If like me you’ve all but exhausted the existing loops that come pre packaged with Garageband through hours of experimentation and recording, adding new sounds is definitely something you’ll want to do.

If you have an iOS device, you can use Apple’s free Logic Remote iOS app to control GarageBand remotely. You can navigate and mix projects, record new tracks and even play software instruments from an iPhone or iPad connected to the same network as your computer.

Free Sounds For Garageband

You can open the Sound Library from the Sound browser, the Live Loops browser, and from instruments that have additional sounds available for download. To open the Sound Library, your device must be connected to the Internet.

My CPU usage with hardly any tracks is upwards of 50%, and Live is extremely choppy and sluggish (like literally 1 track. Ableton Live 10 renders the GUI on the CPU which is incredibly taxing and extremely bad optimisation. This is why Live 10 has worse CPU performance than Live 9, because in Live 10 when running a high resolution screen, the cpu has to work incredibly hard just to render the gui. Another reason for differing values between Live's CPU meter and the system's CPU meters is that the Activity Monitor and Task Manager normally show 100% per core/CPU. For example, 200% CPU load on the system CPU load meter of a quad-core machine means half of the computer's processing power is in use. Open Live's Preferences → Audio. Lower sample rates = lower CPU usage. Try setting it to a value of 44100 or 48000 Hz. Ideally, you should pick the correct setting before starting a new project, rather than changing it while working on an existing one.

To open the Sound Library from the Sound browser:

• In an existing song, tap to open the Sound browser, swipe until you see Sound Library, then tap Sound Library.
• If you’ve created a new song, the Sound browser opens automatically. Swipe until you see Sound Library, then tap Sound Library

To open the Sound Library from an instrument like Drummer:

1. If necessary, select the Drummer track in Tracks view, then tap in the control bar.
2. Tap the drummer name, then tap “Get more Drummers.” The number indicates how many additional drummers are available.

• In an existing song, tap to open the Template browser, then tap Sound Library.
• If you’ve created a new Live Loops song, the Template browser opens automatically. Tap Sound Library.

Navigate the Sound Library

Once you've opened the Sound Library, do any of the following to navigate it:

• Tap a tile to see more sounds.
• Tap Preview to hear samples of the sounds.
• Scroll to view additional information about the sound pack, including file size.
• Tap Get to download the sounds to your device.
• To delete a downloaded sound pack, tap the tile, then tap Delete
