Connect Scarlett 2i4 To Ableton Mac
I've recently had a problem with using Live and my Focusrite 2i4 .. basically, Live will boot up normally but hangs when opening up Live sets. It tries to load all samples but usually gets about half way and then freezes. I also cant preview any sounds from the Live library. If I unplug the 2i4 and boot up Live (using the ASIO 4 All driver), it opens normally (I think faster than when connected to the 2i4) .. everything works.. sets open up, I can preview sounds and all samples load quickly.

In Logic I use the Scarlett 2i2 as my audio output. Most DAWs let you change the output from the default setting to the Scarlett in the settings tab. To play a MIDI keyboard however, I use USB keyboards (specifically the s88 from Native). Plugging that into the other USB port lets me use my USB MIDI keyboard with my Scarlett 2i2. On rare occasions, a Mac preference file relating to audio devices may become corrupted. This can cause a device to not show up as an input/output device in System Preferences Sound even when there is nothing wrong with the device itself, or cause the device's MIDI ports to not show up. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling the 2i4 drivers but no joy .. same problem. I've also tried using a new USB cable to connect the 2i4 without any luck.
To check the driver - I opened up a Live set with ASIO4All as the driver and everything worked .. the 2i4 was plugged into the USB port so I went to preferences and selected the Focusrite driver .. everything froze .. no sounds at all .. I then re-selected the ASIO driver (which took ages because the whole program just bogged down) .. once ASIO was re-selected, everything worked once again without any glitches or problems (the 2i4 was still plugged into the USB port).
I'm considering uninstalling Live and then reinstalling but before I go through with that hassle, I just thought I'd ask if anyone can suggest what might be the problem.

Hi,I have just purchased a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 for use with Ableton.
When i got it home i connected my monitors up and connected the usb to my macbook, span up ableton and It all worked perfectly through my monitors etc. I Tried it with my bass guitar and was able to record it in fine etc.
One of the things i wanted to do was to be able to record DJ mixes so i connected up my DJ mixer via a dual rca to 6.3mm jack cable going from the mixers record outputs into the fist input on the 2i4. Selected Line on the toggele switch and started a CD playing from my CDJ. However the sound was really distant like it wasn't plugged in properly with no bass. i double checked all connections, made sure i had line selected, not instrument, checked the gain etc and tried moving to input 2 on the 2i4 but got the same issue. At this point i thought it was the lead so ordered a new gold plated dual rca to large jack lead from Amazon. This came last night, i tried it and same thing. I tried recording into ableton but on playback the sound is still thin and tinny. I tried toggling and switching all buttons on the 2i4 but could not get the sound to sound right. Can anybody suggest what i might be doing wrong, or could it be that my 2i4 is faulty? I thought it may be the combi xrl/jack inputs on the 2i4 at fault but plugging my bass in via a jack cable is totally fine and the sound is full and bassy as you would expect. Just to add i know the mixer and recording from the mixer work absoultely fine as i can record to my desktop pc absolutely fine using the same cables into ableton.
